Game 2 of the WS....cheat to win??

No post of this yet? [img]/LDPforum/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif[/img] [img]/LDPforum/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/arcadefreak.gif[/img] Tigers win game 2 after a contraversy early in the game win Kenny Rogers appeared to have some "illegal substance" on his hand. Any comments?

Who cares!? They said he had durning the A's and Yankee's game. He had it below is thumb on the Palm. Most pitchers but pine tar on the fingers to get a better grip. IMO I think it was an excuse. PLus why didn't they say something in the 1st instead waiting until the 2nd to speak up.

I agree. He pitched excellent all night. Although if it was tar, then he should have been ejected and suspended.

If definitely appeared to be pine tar. ESPN showed the same substance on his hand in a couple of different games. I'm not saying that it helped him pitch any better, because after he washed it off he still threw 7 innings of scoreless ball. However, the rules are pretty explicit about foreign substances and if the issue was pushed more he probably should have been ejected and suspended.

After Rogers wiped the stuff off, he proceeded to mystify the Cards for what, 6 more innings? I understand the rule, but he would have rolled regardless.

since when was that stuff LEGAL to put on your hands? last i heard it was a suspension/ejection, anything to help improve "motion" on the ball is cheating

if rogers had pine tar on his hand, it would still be sticky late in the game even if he washed it off. on a cold night, i'm sure rogers had it on his hand to get a better grip on his pitches.
